Sex-work harm reduction

An article by Rekart M L in the Lancet (British edition) 366(9503): 2123-2134. Rekart identifies a mix of successful interventions for sex workers including education, empowerment, occupational health and safety, decriminalisation, human-rights-based approaches, peer education, training in condom skills, safety tips for street-based sex workers, male and female condoms, the [HIV] prevention-care synergy, occupational health and safety guidelines for brothels, self-help organisations, and community-based child protection networks. Rekart labels this mix of clinical, social, structural and behavioural interventions ‘harm reduction’ and suggests these interventions are straightforward and achievable.
