CREA's Count Me In conference website is now up and running

The Count Me In! conference will take place from April 16 - 18, 2011 in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is part of CREA's Count Me In! initiative that demonstrates their commitment to addressing the marginalisation and exclusion of sex workers, lesbians, single and disabled women, and trans people. Count Me In! will bring together sex workers, lesbians, single, young, HIV-positive, disabled women, and trans people from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, to discuss violence against women and strategies of resistance.

Conference on Migration, Feminism and the Sex Industry

Time: September 15-17, 2010
Venue: University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland
Deadline: August 15

Migration has transformed feminists’ ideological conflict about the meaning of prostitution. From being a two-sided debate about whether ’sex work is work’ or ‘violence against women’, the discussion now must consider migration policies that favour ‘highly skilled’, white-collar and technical professionals over those willing to take less prestigious jobs in the informal sector, including the sex industry.
